Fornasetti and cc‑tapis have unveiled a striking rug collaboration that transforms iconic Fornasetti motifs into collectible design objects, seamlessly blending Milanese artistry with cc‑tapis’ renowned craftsmanship.
Centered on a visual and conceptual dialogue, the collection reimagines Fornasetti’s most celebrated archive motifs, shifting his surreal, illustrative worldview from paper and porcelain into the tactile realm of fiber, knot, and weave. Crafted from fine natural materials such as Himalayan wool, merino wool, and silk, the rugs bring a new dimension to Fornasetti’s imagery. Notable designs include “Re Sole” (Sun King) and “Peccato Originale” (Original Sin) from the 1950s, alongside the playful “Gattipanni.” The latter merges a cat illustration with a carpet beater in an affectionate nod to Piero Fornasetti’s dual love for felines and everyday household objects. Under cc-tapis’ artisanal direction, these designs transcend traditional flooring to function as both decorative centerpieces and colletible art.
Each piece in the collection is conceived as a composed scene, employing Fornasetti’s signature use of repetition, illusion, and irony to engage the viewer’s imagination. With a range of scales – extending from room-defining statement rugs to intimate wall-mounted tapestries – the collaboration speaks directly to a “collector-minded” interior market that treats avant-garde design with the same gravity as fine art. The full collection is set to debut in April, launching simultaneously across both Fornasetti and cc-tapis’ digital platforms.
