Summary

  • Ferrari has confirmed its first electric vehicle will be named Luce with a full exterior reveal scheduled for May
  • The interior is designed by former Apple design chief Jony Ive and Marc Newson’s creative collective LoveFrom
  • Key features include a recycled aluminum steering wheel, Corning Fusion5 glass, and a magnetized E Ink key dock

Ferrari has officially christened its inaugural battery-electric vehicle the Ferrari Luce, signaling a new chapter for the Maranello automaker. While the exterior remains under wraps until May, the brand has unveiled a revolutionary interior concept co-developed with Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson of LoveFrom. This collaboration marks a significant pivot from industry trends, prioritizing tactile engagement and material excellence over the ubiquitous “screenification” of modern luxury EVs.

The cabin’s architecture draws heavily from avionics and high-end horology to create an interface that is “physical and engaging.” A central 12.86-inch instrument binnacle features a physical aluminum needle backed by a high-contrast OLED display, blending analogue tradition with digital precision. The three-spoke steering wheel is crafted from 100% recycled aluminum alloy and lacks any plastic components, featuring physical buttons for drive modes rather than capacitive touch surfaces.

Tech-wise, the Luce introduces “Fusion5” glass developed with Corning—a material never before used in automotive applications. A 10.12-inch central screen sits on a ball-and-socket joint for adjustability, while a magnetized dock treats the key fob as a centerpiece, using E Ink to transition its color from yellow to black upon connection. Under the hood, the EV promises a “mighty” powertrain exceeding 1,000bhp, ensuring the electric transition doesn’t compromise on performance. Check out the interior details above. The Ferrari Luce is scheduled for a full exterior reveal in May 2026.
