ASICS SportStyle has officially partnered with London-based jewellery brand Completedworks for a striking debut collaboration. Launching as part of the “Crafts for Mind” initiative, the project reimagines the archival GEL-KAYANO 20 running shoe through a sculptural lens, blurring the boundaries between high-performance function and delicate ornamentation.
Handcrafted in Completedworks’ London studio, the limited-edition designs apply the brand’s poetic design language to a technical silhouette. Available in classic black and white colorways, the sneakers are adorned with mismatched gems, pearlescent bows, and floral elements, creating a juxtaposition of pragmatism and luxury. Founder and Artistic Director Anna Jewsbury describes the project as an exploration of “femininity and a certain sense of ornateness” within the practical realm of everyday footwear.
The collaboration extends beyond the aesthetic experiment, as it serves as a charitable endeavor. A portion of the profits will be donated to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s Community Programme, supporting artist-led activities that promote mental wellbeing. Due to the intricate, customized nature of the embellishments, the brand notes that these pairs are considered art pieces and should be worn with careful consideration to avoid damage or color transfer.
The ASICS x Completedworks sneakers collaboration launches exclusively on February 21 at 2 p.m. GMT via Completedworks at a price of $300 USD a pair. The shoes will also land at Dover Street Market London, following debut at London Fashion Week. A wider release at Dover Street Market Paris and Ginza will follow in March.
