Summary

  • Cometa has launched the M2, a high-end audio mixer
  • It features Class-A analog circuitry and a unique, sports-car-like chassis
  • The Founder’s Edition retails at $9,999 USD, while future models will be priced at $12,999 USD

Cometa’s M2 marks the brand’s bold entry into high-end audio, marrying Swiss precision with California craftsmanship. Conceived alongside expert engineers, world-class DJs and the late Barry Bialos – whose insights into rotary gain circuits guided its development – the M2 fills a long-standing gap as a rotary club mixer, home-blending preamplifier and active listening platform all in one.

Built to perform equally well in nightclubs and living rooms, the M2 features Class A discrete phone and line preamps, full aux sends, switchable mic and headphone routing, as well as transformer-balanced outputs for seamless integration. “We didn’t set out to build just a DJ mixer—we set out to create the world’s most advanced rotary club mixer, home-blending preamplifier, and active listening platform in one,” explains Cometa’s founder Spencer Velasquez.

Encased in a matte-black chassis with polished aluminum details, the M2 invites tactile engagement at every turn. Its fully Class-A analog circuitry and proprietary signal path deliver ultra-low noise, maximum headroom, and warm, transparent output. Audiophile-grade Cinemag transformers and WIMA film capacitors refine sonic clarity, while a 390-LED, high-resolution VU meter offers split-second feedback. Ergonomic, hand-turned knobs with orientation cues ensure eyes-free mixing even under dim club lights.

Drawing on inspirations from vintage recording consoles, early discothèque controls, and Italian sports cars, the M2 blends performance with sculptural elegance. “The M2’s DNA comes from a love of machines that made people want to interact with them,” the brand’s CMO, Loren Granich tells Hypebeast. “After hundreds of prototypes, we landed on a high-performance club weapon that’s refined enough for the world’s most elite listening rooms.”

Already road-tested by selectors like DJ Harvey, Paramida and 2manydjs, the Founder’s Edition, complete with numbered nameplate, is available for pre-order at $9,999 USD, with future editions priced at $12,999 USD. For more details, head over to the brand’s official website.
