Update: After a few rounds of teasers, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance RC56 is officially launching this week. The early 2000s-inspired sneaker revisits New Balance’s cross-country running DNA, offering it through a modern lens co-designed with ALD. Three colorways of “Neon/Grey,” “Pristine,” and “Navy” — all of which we previewed previously below — combine perforated leather with nylon mono mesh and synthetic detailing at the upper. FuelCell midsole cushioning and a PU foam footbed insert both prioritize comfort. Meanwhile, co-branding can be spotted at the tongue, heel, footbed, and special packaging. Drawings for all three pairs, priced at $160 USD each, have opened exclusively via Aimé Leon Dore today and will close at the end of the day on May 21 with the official capsule launch taking place on May 23.

Update: A mysterious new model leaked earlier this year — the New Balance RC56. Presented as part of an Aimé Leon Dore collaboration, it was assumed that this would help kickstart the in-line debut of the shoe. However, ALD has gone on to officially announce the campaign, sharing that the RC56 is a model that was created by the two together. A behind-the-scenes look at its development describes the intricate process that went into creating the sleek runner that is said to sport premium materials, including leather, alongside modern sneaker technology. Joe Bavasso, ALD’s VP of brand, has also offered a look at various colorways, featuring compositions of navy and yellow, off-white and green, red and silver, and the silver, yellow, and green version that we previewed initially below. While many details have not yet been shared, a release period of this spring was noted, so stay tuned for updates as we prepare for the project to arrive very soon.

The duo’s footwear includes some of the American sportswear brand’s most popular releases from recent years. Their first new project for 2025 looks to feature a brand new model — the RC56.
An early preview of what to expect from the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance RC56 has just surfaced, highlighting the model in a green, yellow, and silver color scheme that is backed by an off-white midsole and black detailing. While its technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, the new silhouette features a mesh base that is accompanied by synthetic overlays. It also boasts model branding at the tongue that rests beneath an “aimé” hit. ALD’s Queens Crest logo appears at the shoe’s heel, completing this first look at the shoe.
At the time of writing, neither Aimé Leon Dore nor New Balance have discussed when their collaborative campaign featuring the new RC56 will be arriving.
