A one-of-a-kind piece of Lamborghini racing history is now up for grabs. Miami-based classic supercar specialist Curated is offering the 1997 Lamborghini Diablo GT2, chassis #ZA9DE22A0_LA12494 — the only factory-built GT2 ever produced by the marque.

Unveiled at the 1998 Bologna Motor Show, the GT2 was developed as a no-compromise track car by Lamborghini, featuring a carbon fiber-reinforced body over a full racing chassis. Powered by a prototype 6L V12 producing over 630 hp, the GT2 laid the foundation for future production models like the Diablo GT and VT 6.0.

Built to homologate Lamborghini’s ambitions in GT-class racing, the car saw brief competitive use during the 1998 FFSA GT Championship, fielded by DAMS Racing. Afterward, it spent nearly two decades on display at Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese museum before its release in 2015. Finished in Arancio with a Nero interior, it features a five-speed manual transmission and a top speed of 217 mph.

Its interior is stripped down for racing with a single seat, full roll cage, Plexiglas windows with sliders and a multi-point harness — true to its motorsport roots. Despite never being intended for private sale, the GT2 has garnered recognition in collector circles, placing 3rd in the One-Off & Custom-Built Cars Class at the inaugural Erster Lamborghini Concours d’Élégance in Switzerland in 2017.

This prototype, race car and showpiece is available for purchase now via Curated’s official site, with details on price available upon request.
