Jaeger-LeCoultre has unveiled the Master Control Classic, a limited-edition timepiece that pays homage to the brand’s heritage of elegant simplicity and classical design codes.
Inspired by a historic reference from 1994, this new release captures the restrained aesthetics of its predecessor while adapting them to a slightly larger, yet classically proportioned, 36mm steel case. The visual presentation exudes vintage appeal, featuring a silver-coloured sunray dial adorned with elongated triangular indexes, luminescent dots, and Dauphine hands. A blued central seconds hand provides a subtle touch of colour against the cool, silvery-white palette, reinforcing the watch’s timeless character.
While the exterior remains faithful to the historic reference, the internal mechanics showcase modern horological advancements. The watch is powered by the latest version of the Manufacture’s mainstay self-winding Calibre 899. This updated movement incorporates recent performance-enhancing technology to deliver a substantial 70-hour power reserve, ensuring reliability for contemporary wearers. Complementing the vintage aesthetic of the slim 8.15mm thick case, the timepiece is paired with a warm brown ostrich leather strap, accented with lighter stitching and fastened by a pin buckle.
The caseback carries the emblem that distinguished early Master Control models – the mark of the brand’s “1000‑hour Control” certification – echoing the original 1990s medallion design and underscoring Jaeger‑LeCoultre’s rigorous testing protocol for fully cased watches. Priced at $8,950 USD, the Master Control Classic is limited to 500 pieces, available for inquiry through the brand’s boutiques and website.
