HBO Max has unveiled the trailer for the highly-anticipated second season of The Pitt. Mild spoilers ahead for those who have yet to watch the medical procedural drama’s inaugural season.
Just like season one, the entirety of season two will play out across only one day — this time, during the Fourth of July. It’s Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch’s last shift before his scheduled sabbatical, and he already seems to be butting heads with Dr. Al-Hashimi, his replacement as the ED’s senior attending physician. There’s also the return of Dr. Langdon, Dr. Robby’s ex-protege, who’s back in “the Pitt” after spending a few months in rehab. Much to Dr. Langdon’s dismay, Dr. Robby sends him to triage.
With the rest of the main cast — Dr. Mohan, Dr. McKay, Dr. King, Dr. Santos and med students Javadi and Whitaker — ready for another hectic day, a cyber attack forces the hospital to “go analog,” adding another layer of difficulty to their already-stressful shift.
Reprising their roles from season one are Noah Wyle (Dr. Robby), Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Whitaker) and Shabana Azeez (Javadi). Sepideh Moafi joins season two as Dr. Al-Hashimi. Notably absent this season is Tracy Ifeachor, who portrayed Dr. Collins in the previous season.
Season one received a total of seven Emmy nominations, winning three for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Wyle and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for LaNasa.
