This 30th anniversary creation directly honors the man whose original “Hommage” collection, launched in 1996, was dedicated to the watchmakers who had influenced his own career. The name “La Placide” references the founder’s childhood nickname, which perfectly reflected his calm and gentle spirit. The launch highlights Roger Dubuis’ heritage by combining his favorite Perpetual Calendar complication with his preferred Biretrograde display, showcasing a modern revival of expressive aesthetics.

Housed in a 38mm pink gold case, the timepiece frames a dial made of five layered elements: rhodium-coated flange, mother-of-pearl calendar segments, a “Leman Blue” lacquered main plate, brushed counters and a moonphase disc in blue aventurine with 18k yellow gold moons. Paired with a blue interchangeable leather strap, the Hommage “Placide” balances technical virtuosity with expressive design.

At its heart lies the Calibre 1472, a movement built from both original and remanufactured components, uniting the RD14 automatic calibre (introduced in 2004) with the RD72 module (first used in 1999). The result is a technically sophisticated mechanism featuring day, date, month, leap year and moonphase indications, all expressed through the distinctive biretrograde hands. Constructed with 291 components and finished with 15 decoration techniques – including Geneva stripes, perlage, and mirror polishing – the caliber is complete with a new 18k pink gold rotor.
