The world’s greatest detective is tackling his darkest case yet. Netflix has released the official trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated third installment, confirming a theatrical release on November 26, 2025, before its streaming debut on December 12, 2025. The trailer reveals a shift to a more gothic, high-stakes investigation centered on a religious murder.
Daniel Craig returns as the impeccable detective Benoit Blanc, who finds himself immersed in a mystery involving a charismatic but tyrannical monsignor in a small upstate New York church. The footage promises a darker, more complicated puzzle than its predecessors, with Blanc navigating a complex web of faith, betrayal and power as he solves the murder of Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin).
The trailer also officially unveils the incredible ensemble cast. Joining Craig are new heavyweights Josh O’Connor, Jeremy Renner, and Mila Kunis, alongside returning favorites and a host of formidable new suspects like, devout churchgoer Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), aspiring politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny) and author Lee Ross (Andrew Scott). Johnson, who writes and directs, continues his signature style of blending homage with clever reinvention. Wake Up Dead Man is set to be a visually striking and intricate thriller, positioning itself as a must-watch cinematic event that explores the shadows beneath an apparently perfect setting. The film first premiered at TIFF in September.
