Summary
- Georg Jensen’s debut “Home Scent” collection spotlights three scents – Sølv, Stål, Kvarts – that translate the House’s core materials into olfactory experiences
- The vessels are sculptural and cast from original smithy molds, honoring the brand’s silversmithing heritage
Heritage Danish design house Georg Jensen has debuted “Home Scent,” its first collection of scented candles. Rooted in the silversmithy’s material history, the series translates the brand’s founding materials – silver, steel and quartz – into olfactory compositions and is presented as sculptural vessels cast from original molds used in the workshop.
Each candle bears the Danish name of its inspiration: Sølv (silver), Stål (steel) and Kvarts (quartz). The vessels are designed as sculptural objects, cast directly from original molds used in the Georg Jensen smithy. One shape is cubical, originally used to form small silver “stones,” while the other is a conical shape with a flat top. Using these very tools to shape the candles directly connects the final objects to the craft and expertise passed down through generations of Georg Jensen silversmiths.
The fragrances are layered compositions built from ingredients native to Denmark and foraged local flora, intended to evoke the smithy’s atmosphere. Sølv opens with cypress and aldehyde over a heart of Siberian pine and oak moss, settling on patchouli, myrrh and musk. Meanwhile, Stål pairs cedrat and ivy leaf with a beetroot, oak moss and orris root heart and a base of patchouli leaf, vetiver and cedarwood. As for Kvarts, it fuses elemi and black pepper with marine, oak moss and white jasmine heart notes and a myrrh and musk base.
The packaging features digitized black‑and‑white photographs from the 1950s documenting Georg Jensen’s products and silversmithy, drawn from the House archives. Now available through Georg Jensen, the collection is offered in three sizes and is priced from £35 – £110 GBP (approx. $47 – $148 USD).
