Summary

  • De Bethune uses a proprietary thermal titanium oxidation for an intense hue for its DB28xs Yellow Tones case
  • It features patented floating lugs and is powered by the manually wound DB2115V14 caliber

De Bethune has unveiled the DB28xs Yellow Tones, a new interpretation of its iconic DB28 that balances refined aesthetics with horological performance. The model is the product of a relentless quest for perfection, with founder and master watchmaker Denis Flageollet repeatedly returning to the drawing board to evolve the design through subtle, meticulous improvements to components, processes and techniques.

The DB28xs Yellow Tones continues the Manufacture’s long investigation into titanium oxidation, employing a proprietary thermal process to produce a warm, intense yellow across the watch’s surfaces. This treatment reframes De Bethune’s signature metalwork – traditionally known for blue and grey oxidations – into a volcanic‑inspired chromatic register that plays with light and reflection. The watch is presented in a polished grade‑5 titanium case with a 39 mm diameter and features the brand’s patented floating‑lug system, which adapts to the wearer’s wrist and movements to enhance comfort. The timepiece is finished with an extra‑supple, double‑lined alligator strap and a titanium buckle.

The aesthetic reworking is carried through the DB28xs architecture, where sculptural case lines and recessed lugs interact with the treated titanium to emphasize depth and contrast. The result is a compact, highly finished watch that functions as both a technical instrument and an expressive study in color, with the surface treatment amplifying the model’s three‑dimensional detailing.

Framed as a continuation of De Bethune’s research into metal oxidation and thermal coloring, the DB28xs Yellow Tones exemplifies the brand’s fusion of experimental metallurgy and refined finishing. It offers collectors a distinctive variation that foregrounds both process and presence on the wrist. For more information, head to De Bethune’s official webstore.
