The EMC SR-71 Is the Newest Reimagining of URWERK's Award-Winning Model
Now updated with a titanium and steel build.
This year marks the decennium of URWERK’s EMC, a model that once swept double accolades at the 2014 GPHG awards in Geneva. To celebrate this milestone, the independent watchmaker unveils a fresh reimagining of the model, dubbed EMC SR-71.
Releasing as a 10-piece limited edition, this special reference now arrives in a new and improved titanium and steel build. Its distinctly shaped case measures 47.5mm in diameter and comes equipped with a crank handle in SR-71 alloy.
In emulating the look of an instrument panel, the watch face is fitted with four separate dials, providing readings for hours, minutes, seconds as well as power reserve. Speaking on the new timepiece, Martin Frei, the co-founder and artistic director of URWERK elaborates that “The watch face is a personal cockpit; in addition to the exact time, the EMC also provides information about how it works and how it is ‘piloted’. It’s a unique and exciting experience.”
The in-house UR-EMC caliber is in clear display on the watch’s open caseback. Beating at an astounding rate of 28,800 hourly vibrations, the watch is capable of running continuously for up to 80 hours.
