Temp Project’s Serene and Modern Office Takes Home in a Historic 1910s Building
Featuring furniture and decorative objects from other Ukranian talents.
Kyiv-based interior design studio Temp Project has unearthed a serene and sophisticated modern office space in the heart of its home city. Led by architect Anastasia Tempynska, the office space is located in a historical six-story building. The building was erected in 1914 by architect Josyp Zetsker, boasting a historicist style that’s infused with neo-classical elements.
For the office’s interiors, a sophisticated, modern and elegant aesthetic was employed while upholding the building’s charm such as preserving the original decorative geometric and floral ceiling stucco. In echoing the building’s opulent façade, specific elements such as the rectangular arch above the windows are translated into the interior design.
Spanning 120 square meters of space, the office’s layout includes a central working area, a meeting room, an individual office as well as an area where staff can relax and chill. Blending modern with romantic, pristine white walls are incorporated with dark wooden structures, while rooms are divided through glass partitions to utilize natural light and create an open atmosphere.
While the furniture is contemporary, the space is pervaded with unique Ukrainian design elements that offset its clean aesthetic with an eclectic touch. This includes Noom’s expressive Flock chairs, Assha World sculpture and PINK GENTLE CLOUDS’ ceramic table and mirror for a touch of organic aesthetic.
“Working with old structures is always fascinating,” says Tempynska,” These buildings possess a certain charm and history, breathing life from the past. In this space, we discovered several unique geometries in the sockets and moldings, and our design began with these elements in mind, preserving and highlighting them.”
