The widely popular Despicable Me franchise kicked off on July 9 2010 and is still going strong 14 years later. Out of the core films, the beloved yellow-hued minion got their own film entitled Minions in 2015. Now the third installment of the Minions film spinoff is set to hit theaters in June of 2027.

The announcement of Minion 3’s release date is aptly timed given Despicable Me 4 just landed in theaters on July 3 with a $230 million USD box office debut on opening weekend. The full franchise timeline follows Despicable Me in 2010, Despicable Me 2 in 2013, Minions in 2015, Despicable Me 3 in 2017, Minions 2 in 2022 and Despicable Me 4 in 2024.

With Minions 3, the film sees the return of Brian Lynch who wrote all of the spinoff films. In the director role, the film sees Pierre Coffin who directed the first Minions film and the first three Despicable Me films. On the production front, the movie sees Illumination founder/CEO Christ Meledandri and Bill Ryan. With all of the released films, the Despicable Me franchise is approaching the $5 billion USD mark at the box office.

Stay tuned for forthcoming details about Minions 3, which is set for July 2027. In the interim, go check out Despicable Me 4, which is out now in theaters.
