Take a Nostalgic Journey Through Summer in A Kind of Guise’s Holiday Drop
“Each piece evokes the magic of those unforgettable moments.”
Trends come and go at a dizzying pace, but for A Kind of Guise (AKOG), the Munich-based label produces garments that are meant to be passed down the generations like a family heirloom. Each collection is like a love letter dedicated to a specific city or region, tapping master artisans who weave local traditions into modern silhouettes.
Complementing its Spring/Summer 2024 line, AKOG has released a surprise holiday drop of clothing and accessories. As the summer months roll on, the capsule is meant to transport you through a “nostalgic journey,” says the brand, “Whether it’s the bittersweet experience of a first love, the inevitable sunburn, the carefree lightheartedness, or long dinner nights with family and friends, these experiences defined our summers.”
Crowd favorites in the Gioia and Salvi Shirt reappear in an all-over tiger and wave print in the former, while the latter features a subtle floral embroidered pattern — both of which are crafted with fabrics sourced from Japan. Swim shorts and baggy trousers are also an added emphasis, but where the capsule differs from other AKOG releases, is the focus on accessories. The same Japanese patterned fabrics in the shirts are also used for unique beach umbrellas that are crafted in Austria. There are also a range of signet earrings, necklaces and a travel backgammon set.
“This collection captures the essence of a nostalgic summer of youth, where the unexpected happens and not everything follows a clear theme, but each piece evokes the magic of those unforgettable moments,” AKOG added.
