Nadine Ghosn is taking her stationery creativity to another level. Collaborating with Crayola for a new collection of bangles, the jeweler is taking design cues from the iconic art supply and releasing her own iteration of childhood nostalgia. The first-ever collaboration of its nature, Ghosn and Crayola have come together to reinterpret the family favorite wax crayon.

Inspired by the childlike creativity and combined with Ghosn’ bold use of colors in her designs, the collaboration, titled “Color-FULL” brings together the jeweler’s inimitable tromp l’oeil humor and unparalleled level of Italian craftsmanship with the brand’s imagination-propelling timeless and staple stationery. Many have turned to Crayola crayons when they were kids to express their creativity and colorful visions. The partnership aims to re-introduce this notion of carefree and limitless creativity. Ghosn’s bold, gold bracelets receive a Crayola makeover that sees her signature customizable option as the final ingredient to each unique piece.

Each bracelet mimics the iconic Crayola crayon’s shape and comes in various colors, as well as the ability to customize with letters in the signature Crayola font and color of your choice. Designed to be worn individually or stacked together in multiples, the colorful gems and crayon-inspired design is a reminder to reignite everyone’s inner youth. The Crayola collaboration mark’s Ghosn’ eighth collection and is a thematic extension of her iconic stationery-inspired creations. Months after the collaboration had been teased on Lil Yachty, a close friend of Ghosn’s, the collection is finally ready for the rest of the world. Prior to launching the collection, Ghosn shared how the collaboration came about in an exclusive conversation with Hypebeast.

Hypebeast: Why did you think a Crayola collaboration would be the perfect fit for your next collection?

Nadine: Bold perseverance and shared values and missions brought us together. I pursued Crayola with a passion since the pencil is one of my iconic designs, as well as the BIC form and naturally, crayons felt like the perfect extension summer edition to one’s stack and a reminder of the inner child that exists within us.

Once I met the team and discussions began it become clear that both brands had the shared value of promoting creativity and to invite people to see things differently. Our shared motto is to: Color outside the lines. This is a completely new kind of partnership for Crayola so it has been a constant work in progress and an innovation within the space to have such an iconic brand that reminds us of childhood nostalgia that would take a chance and play with me.

The collaboration was initially teased with Lil Yachty. Can you tell us about he was connected with you on this?

This collection has been ongoing for a year and a half, I was in discussion with Crayola’s team encouraging a new kind of collaboration from what they are used to. As they too value creativity we got along on shared vision and mission. In parallel, I was exploring the manufacturing process with my atelier in Italy and when I met Lil Yachty I had told him what I was working on and I promised him he would get the first piece. He is also an avid crayon lover and it felt very fitting. I had not expected he would post but once he received the piece he shared it on his social which then naturally got people curious whether this was a sneak preview or a custom order.

A collab like this has never been seen before, especially with Crayola. Does this collection evoke a lot of nostalgia for you?

This collection evokes joy curiosity, fun, creativity and color and naturally brings us back to when doodling in our free time was seen as a favorite childhood pastime. It was my first dabble with these colors and shades and for some reason every time I see crayons my heart swells with joy.

This is just the beginning of our collaboration and there is more creativity to come as we explore a variety of ways of reminding you of the inner child within.

A selection of pieces will be launched exclusively at Dover Street Market London on June 4 for two months. Pieces will be made to order and customizable.
