'Forgotten Architecture' by Bianca Felicori Shines a Light on Overlooked Projects
Recovering overshadowed architectural categories like gas stations, cemeteries, architecture in music videos and more.
Forgotten Architecture, edited by Bianca Felicori and published by NERO Editions, brings to light overlooked projects and architects. Originally a Facebook group started in May 2019, this initiative aims to unearth and celebrate architectural works that have remained in the shadows.
The book recovers a variety of often-ignored architectural categories, such as ephemeral structures, gas stations, nightclubs, playgrounds, vacation resorts, and even architectures in music videos. It features exclusive insights into projects like the house designed for Arnaldo Pomodoro by Ettore Sottsass Jr. and Dante Bini’s avant-garde Binishells.
Bianca Felicori, a renowned curator and PhD researcher at UCLouvain, brings her extensive experience and collaboration with institutions like Triennale Milano and La Biennale di Venezia to this project. Supported by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the book reflects a collective and educational effort to promote Italian contemporary art globally.
The book will be launched in several key cultural hubs across Europe:
- DOPO? Space, Milan: April 11
- MAXXI, Rome: April 24
- MAMbo, Bologna: May 18
- CIVA, Brussels: June 5
- MACRO, Rome: June 15
