The Macallan Celebrates 200th Anniversary With Rich and Dark Single-Malt Whisky
Encased in a spiralized, 180-degree bottle.
The Macallan is celebrating its 200th year of operations in 2024. Founded and still based out of Scotland, the single-malt whisky has evolved to become one of the most popular names in the space.
As part of its ongoing releases commemorating the landmark year, the distillery has teamed up with for a limited edition whisky called The Macallan Horizon. Encased within a horizontally-oriented glass bottle, which Macallan says is a nod to the “horizontal trajectory of the automotive world.” Bentley’s own Crown Cut Walnut veneer appears in inlay, complimenting an aluminum spiralized case that’s lined on the inside with leather.
The whiskey, meanwhile, was crafted by master distiller Kirsteen Campbell, who selected the new expression from six of The Macallan’s Sherry-seasoned oak casks. The smell evokes dark cherries and plums, while a rich finish introduces touches of crystallized ginger, cinder toffee and charred pineapple.
Like many of The Macallan’s more exclusive releases, the whisky comes with a high price tag. Collectors will have to shell out $51,000 USD (£40,000 GBP) for a bottle of The Macallan Horizon.
