Released last year, CRKD‘s original Nitro Deck proved so popular that the company has already announced its successor – the Nitro Deck+, a revised version of the Nintendo Switch accessory that’s been built with community feedback for an overall improved and more feature heavy product. The Switch is currently in its seventh year on the market, selling close to 140 million units according to Nintendo; testament to how popular it continues to be, third party manufacturers are still making new accessories for it, something you won’t find with most consoles in their twilight years.

The new Nitro Deck+ was developed by CRKD with the feedback of its users from its online communities. While the original deck could only be used in handheld mode, the Nitro Deck+ lets users in play in “docked” mode thanks to the new HDMI out port and the included USB-C to HDMI adaptor – a welcomed fix for a major gripe many users had with the first Nitro Deck. Ergonomics have been revised, too, with new placement for the thumbsticks; they’re now level, mirroring the experience found on other handhelds like the Steam Deck or the ASUS ROG Ally. Getting your Nintendo Switch in and out of the deck has also been improved thanks to a new “easy eject system”, allowing users to more easily remove it without the need to touch (and, so, put pressure on) the screen as with the original Nitro Deck.

As well as the existing trigger buttons on the back of the deck, the new Nitro Deck+ features two new ‘Sidekick’ buttons on either side of the thumbsticks that have been programmed to replicate the A and B button. The back buttons have been reprogrammed to X, Y, A and B, but remain re-mappable so users can change these to their liking. Haptics have also been upgraded with the new deck featuring an adjustable rumble system that, like the back buttons, can be customized to suit users’ preferences. And, lastly, the updated deck now features Bluetooth, allowing it to connect to the CRKD App through its user’s phone, for additional control and adjustment options.

The Nitro Deck+ comes in two translucent designs including Clear Black and Clear White. You can pre-order it now for $69.99 USD / £69.99 GBP via CRKD’s website.
