Nothing Unveils First Community-Designed Phone (2a)
Four competition winners were invited to redesign the iconic smartphone with glow-in-the-dark features.
British tech innovator Nothing continues breaking boundaries with detailed products that speak for themselves. After debuting its revolutionary Ear (open) wireless earbuds, Nothing unveils its first-ever Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus designed by the community, for the community.
The Community Edition Project welcomed four international competition winners to reimagine the Phone (2a) harvested from Nothing’s social platforms. By working closely with the brand’s engineers, the talented winners designed an all-new version from start to finish.
The smartphone was co-created by Astrid Vanhuyse, Kenta Akasaki, Andrés Mateos, Ian Henry Simmonds, and Sonya Palma, featuring glow-in-the-dark features, “Phosphorescence” hardware, and “Connected Collection” wallpaper design. The latter utilized AI and digital technology to create six new screensavers, while green-hued lighting allows the device to emit a delicate glow without wasting battery life.
