Update: Just days ahead of the adidas AE 1 “Iron Metallic” release, adidas has shared official campaign images of the shoe and provided some inspiration behind its color scheme. The “Iron Metallic” draws from Anthony Edwards’ tireless work to cement his status as a star in the NBA and his ironclad bond with his beloved Minnesota Timberwolves teammates. Performance-wise, it’s got all the tech that you’ve come to expect, including a low-to-the-ground feel, plenty of lateral support and a unique cushioning blend of adidas’ BOOST and Lightstrike foam. Check out the campaign images here and read the original story for more info — and expect the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 Low “Iron Metallic” to release on the adidas webstore November 29 for $110 USD.

Original Story:Since adidas and Minnesota Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards unveiled the pair a year ago, the AE 1s have seen an array of variants in new hues, metallic finishes, and technicolor patterns. Now the Ant has a forthcoming “Iron Sharpens Iron” colorway featuring a futuristic finish set to land by the end of the year.

The familiar honeycomb mesh uppers come in tinted silver with an iridescent finish that reflects shades of purple, blue, and pink. Small accents of “Solar Orange” appear on the the tongue tab, within the sole indentations and on the three-stripes logo that sits atop the carbon fiber heel counter. The chromatic quality of the pair remains front-and-center against the monochromatic black collar, laces, and eyestays. “Iron Sharpens Iron” and its futuristic vibe make the pair just as easy to imagine being worn by an intergalactic trooper, as on the court worn by Edwards himself.

Recent varaints of the AE 1 have come in bold colors like “Lucid Lime” and “Light Purple,” but the last metallic colorway was announced in July with “Silver Metallic,” which featured a polished silver upper. Soon Edwards will star alongside LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler and Domantas Sabonis for an NBA-focused Netflix documentary Starting 5, premiering on October 9.

The AE1 Low in “Iron Sharpens Iron” will be available at the adidas web store on November 29. Stay tuned for more updates on the release from Hypebeast.
