Since 1993, Danish brand Samsøe Samsøe has crafted its persona through zeal for Scandinavian style and culturally-relevant designs. 30 years later, its design philosophy has only continued to grow with the latest example being its new ‘Future Vision” example for the Fall/Winter 2023 season.

With a heritage-oriented outlook, the new collection is dually inspired by its own history and international cultures as well. In this vein, which has influenced the brand’s design cadence of the past 30 years, the new collection presents a conversation on a future informed by the past. As such, collection pieces harbor an overwhelming forward-facing aesthetic that is illustrated by technical, tailored and street styles, but they also impart a great deal of nostalgic sentiments.

“The collection is about things we love, things we have always loved, that are always there in every collection and things that are new for us,” said the head of womenswear, Meme Marta Fagiuoli.

The presentation of fused styles and time appears via retro cool coats, leather jackets, streamlined suiting, relaxed nylon suits paired with bodycon tops, classic relaxed denim, printed button-down shirts, asymmetrically cut curved hem skirts, relaxed hoodies and homespun waved knits. The collection pieces are relatively calm in construction (channeling the brand’s signature Scandinavian refinement), but are elevated through mixed-style pairings. Overall, the collection has a muted color palette with shades of gunmetal, black, silver, stone blue and slate gray. But there are the occasional pops of color with flamingo pink, dusty purple, lime green, cobalt blue and orange.

“Our Autumn Winter collection is our interpretation of the future – an homage to a time we will soon live in with a hint of nostalgia,” said the head of menswear Gitte Wetter. “The garments are classic, but their mix contradicts, making them exciting and new.”
