BAPE and Alpha Industries Reimagine Signature Styles With Classic Japanese Craftsmanship
Featuring iconographic flight jackets, reversible kimonos, shark full-zip hoodies and more.
Alpha Industries and BAPE are longtime collaborators with a plethora of joint collections under their belts: see 2020’s MA-1 and N3-B capsule and 2021’s BE@RBRICKS drop, for reference. Now, the storied partners have reunited for a new collab of limited-edition apparel, footwear and more BE@RBRICKS, reimagining classic streetwear and military tropes through the lens of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
The collection begins with the Reversible Kimono Jacket and the classic MA-1 Jacket, both of which have been constructed to pay homage to Sashiko, a signature Japanese stitching technique that offers decorative reinforcements for a functional finish. Galvanized by Ukiyo-e, an art style that flourished across Japan from the 17th to the 19th century, both silhouettes feature embroidered graphics of BAPE’s signature iconography on their backs.
BAPE’s Shark Full Zip Hoodie appears in the collaboration, merging the Japanese brand’s emblematic shark face details with Alpha Industries’ MA-1 side pockets. Down the line, T-shirts boast dual iconography; six-pocket pants prioritize utilitarianism, and military hats, in navy and blue colorways, become key accessories. The Manhunt rounds out the collection with identical tonal finishes.
On top of the apparel and footwear, BAPE and Alpha Industries have also expanded on their BE@RBRICKS catalog, with the BAPE x Alpha Industries x Medicom Toy N3B BE@RBRICK collection. The line features two designs in army green camo: the former wears the classic MA-1 Jacket, and the latter is outfitted in the N3B parka.
Alpha Industries and BAPE’s latest collaboration will launch on Saturday, December 30, via the brands’ webstores. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
