Subaru is preparing to launch the WRX TR (Tuner Ready) for the upcoming model year. Ahead of its official debut at Subiefest Florida on Saturday, October 7, the automaker gave a preview of the all-wheel drive compact sport.
New to the WRX line for the first time is Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology on a manual transmission. The tech comes with a slew of tools designed to assist in smooth driving, such as a pre-collision braking system and adaptive cruise control. Other upgrades to the WRX TR come in the form of new 19-inch multi-spoke wheels and a nearly 12-inch multimedia system built into the interior. Recaro seats from the GT trim also are included.
The vehicle features a manual transmission for the mainstay but also offers a CVT option. It’s been upgraded with performance tires and a Brembo brake system consisting of a six-piston front and two-piston rear, along with a larger brake master cylinder for better pedal feel and stopping. As for the engine, the WRX TR comes with a 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru BOXER capable of delivering 271 horsepower at 5,600 rpm.
Pricing and a release date for the 2024 Subaru WRX TR will be made public later this year.
