Ice Spice took to the Saturday Night Live stage for the first time this weekend, performing “In Ha Mood” and her new single “Pretty Girl,” featuring Rema, at the revered Studio 8H.
Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance to introduce Ice Spice, after The Eras Tour singer’s rumored boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, performed in a sketch about their relationship taking over the NFL’s headlines.
Pete Davidson made his hosting debut on the episode, which marked the first live taping of the show since May. The series, like many other late-night shows, was put on pause when the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) went on strike, following failed negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). On September 25, the two entities agreed on a new contract, and the strike ended two days later.
Ice Spice has had quite an impressive year, having released the deluxe edition of her debut EP Like…? and released tracks with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift. She took home the award for best breakthrough hip-hop artist at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards last week, and she’s slated to open on select dates for Doja Cat’s Scarlet Tour next month.
