Rick Owens Launches First Flagship Store in Dubai

With over two decades of experience in the fashion industry, Closet Case opened its doors in the UAE six years ago. With four stores worldwide, Closet Case works with over 50 international labels including the newly opened Rick Owens store in Dubai.

Located in The Dubai Mall, one of the biggest malls in the world, the Rick Owens store carries the brand’s ethos translated into signature architectural elements, including the newest pink Prong benches displayed for the first time in any Rick Owens store.

Merchandise is displayed across geometrically structured metal fixtures – labeled “Jungle Gym Fixtures” – with mirror panels, in addition to a completely mirrored accessory-shelving wall in the center of the store. ”I wanted raw collapsing girders recklessly sketching lines the air with geometric glyphs and hieroglyphics embedded in the floor,” explains Rick Owens, “I have always been drawn to the poignancy of diagrams used as a man’s effort to impose order and meaning to the mysteries and vagaries of life”. Each wing of the retail space includes a section for menswear or womenswear including a fitting room, concealed behind a mirror paneled wall, while the label’s signature accessories are enclosed in a minimalistic cabinet with a glass top and internal lights.
 
“We are a very intimate team trying to make things with a very specific point of view that are timeless, gender-less, region-less and planet-less”, says the designer. The store carries all lines by the Maison and showcases an array of carefully curated products including signature runway pieces, Rick Owens mainlines complemented by DRKSHDW and the women’s line, Lilies. To further enhance the assortment, the store will be showcasing the season’s latest collaborative lines, in addition to the long-anticipated kid swear line BabyGeo.
