SEGA Says It Won't Delay 'Sonic Frontiers' to Make More Improvements
Reveals of the upcoming game have received mixed responses from fans so far.
Though fans were delighted by SEGA‘s announcement of Sonic Frontiers back in December last year, the subsequent trailers have left many dissatisfied with how the game looks and plays, with many criticizing it for its lack of engaging gameplay and bland world design. Unfortunately, it now also appears that the studio has no intention to postpone the game’s 2022 release in order to make more improvements to address fans’ concerns.
“We do not consider postponing the launch at this point,” the studio’s senior EVP Koichi Fukazawa replied in an official English translation of the Q&A. “Within the communication with users, we intend to reflect the parts that can be reflected within the development timeline and to build empathy with users. Sonic IP is a mainstay title we will sell over the long term in the future, and we will continue to strengthen it in the next fiscal year onwards as well.”
There’s no precise release date just yet for Sonic Frontiers, but SEGA has scheduled its release window for later this year. The studio is also expected to be revealing more about the title over at Gamescom August 23, so stay tuned for more updates to come.
