Universal Works Continues Hotel de Luxe Concept for SS22
Taking inspiration from summer nights in Italy.
U.K. label Universal Works has revealed the latest installment of its Hotel de Luxe concept, expanding the world of the fictional hotel. The new release focuses on relaxed summer pieces, taking inspiration from a diverse mix of places including skate park culture, Lake Como luxury, and the music of The Specials.
The collection incorporates some of the brand’s best-loved pieces, all of which are reinterpreted through the Hotel de Luxe lens. This includes the Bakers Jacket — constructed using a pale indigo Handloom Denim — and the Kyoto Work Jacket, this time produced in olive corduroy or a light stone. Elsewhere, items come in a Japanese Paisley print, shirting arrives in either piquet or a jersey mix, and the Hi Water Trouser is finished in cru, navy or indigo canvas.
Launching the collection, Universal Works co-founder David Keyte said:
“Hotel De Luxe is full of beautiful blue skies, handwoven blue denims, blue linens, 1950s-inspired blue prints, embroidery, Amalfi coast blooms and paint strokes. It’s a hideaway for that late summer beach party – a good place to break out the perfect vacation polo and beach shorts. Everyone’s welcome. You just need an aperitivo in one hand and the keys to your Vespa in the other.”
