FILA and Aries Blend the Old With the New In Latest Streetwear Capsule
A collaboration of pure Italian-ness for ‘Vela Nera’.

FILA has continued to nurture to all subcultures and affiliations amongst its historic heritage that stretches back to 1911. The brand’s latest move in progressive trespassing comes with a new streetwear capsule, titled “Vela Nera”, in collaboration with London-based streetwear brand, Aries.
While FILA’s evolution over the years has lead to a number of unexpected collaborations and surprising couplings, this latest hook-up is a fusion of the respective DNAs that creates a new one, coming with a heavy stress on Italian-ness within the classical references and attention to detail. The collaboration pays homage to the myth of Theseus and Minotaur, while also continuing to nod to the iconic FILA sailing jacket, created by Giovanni Soldini in 1996.
The color black dominates the majority of the outerwear technical pieces and is a hybrid of unisex, sailing-inspired sportswear. The silhouettes have been designed to be a loose fit tailoring, while the nylon tracksuits, wind cheater pants and bodycon womenswear is moulded off elastic bandage swimwear with seamless engineered base layers. With a streamlined and sparse design being expectedly included by Aries, a slice of Greek mythology, along with sailing codes are well-received to complement their black and white tie-dye prints that are reminiscent of Grecian marble.
Overall, the color palette blends black with FILA’s graphic white and red rich tones of gold and cream, creating a smooth play-off of ancient and modern, with a pleasant signature of luxury and technical from Aries.
The latest FILA x Aries collaboration is available now on FILA’s official website.
