This Titanium Patek Philippe Is Likely To Become One of The Most Expensive Watches Ever Sold
The unique perpetual calendar chronograph will be auctioned off for charity in November.

Patek Philippe has created a piece unique perpetual calendar chronograph in titanium to be auctioned off for a children’s charity later this year.
The Patek Philippe Ref. 5270T-010 perpetual calendar chronograph has been produced specifically to raise money for the Swiss charity, Children Action, and is the first time the reference has been produced in titanium.
The watch features a sunburst dial in a unique shade of emerald green with matching stitching on its gloss black alligator strap with titanium clasp.
A sapphire crystal caseback with the metallized inscription “Children Action 2022” reveals the CH 29-535 PS Q movement inside. The watch will also be supplied with an interchangeable solid titanium caseback.
While Patek Philippe has previously produced titanium watches as private commissions for certain customers, the Swiss watchmaker’s current policy reserves the use of titanium solely for charity auctions.

In 2013, a titanium Patek Philippe Ref. 5004T split-second perpetual calendar was produced for the Only Watch charity auction and sold for nearly $4M USD, while in 2017 a titanium Ref. 5208T-010 minute repeater perpetual calendar chronograph sold at Only Watch for $6.2M USD and still stands as the 9th most expensive wrist watch ever sold.

While the Ref. 5270T-010 might not be quite as complicated as those watches, the market for unique pieces has become superheated in the intervening years as the potential market for such pieces has expanded far beyond collectors to include investors, speculators and those in search of the ultimate status symbols, as witnessed by the $6.2M USD paid for the first Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 last year.

While it might not necessarily knock the $31M USD stainless steel Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime off its throne as the most expensive watch ever sold, it is likely to enter the Top 20.
The watch will be auctioned off at the biennial Children Action gala in Geneva this November 7.
