RANRA Delivers a Surreal Approach to the Salomon Cross Pro
The collaboration shines a light on natural materials and artisanal plant dye.
Nordic-born, London-based label RANRA connects with Salomon for its debut footwear collaboration.
RANRA is grounded in sustainable practices and crafts contemporary technical gear with a renewed approach. This summer, the design duo behind the brand stepped into a new era by giving their label a clean slate under a new identity.
Previously known as Arnar Mār Jōnsson, RANRA explores design and production through an ambiguous lens — from sustainable textile production to furniture assembly.
Salomon takes a backseat while the RANRA team delivers a surreal approach to its Cross Pro model. Drenching the sneaker in natural materials, eco-friendly rubber, cork, and leather make up the shoe’s upper half, merged with protective Ventile cotton canvas for increased support while in motion.
RANRA pays tribute to traditional footwear artisans by replacing standard adhesives with exposed stitching across the medials. The collaborative pairing presents two colorways tinted with Icelandic Elftingar ferns handpicked in the country’s Urriðavatn lake.
The sneaker sports a split design with beige and black uppers alongside contrasting gum-like textiles. Pull cord laces are secured through branded straps that wrap around the rears, while debossed Salomon lettering hits the heel counters. Further markings adorn the linear tongue tags, lace embellishments, and base dubraes. Informative cork insoles complete the design settled atop track-ready Contagrip sole units.
Both colorways of the RANRA x Salomon Cross Pro will drop on November 3 via Salomon and select retailers globally. In-store installations will be held in Paris, Beijing, London, and Marseille on the same day to celebrate the launch.
