Goodbye, Mr. West?

Kanye West may soon be known as a mononymous artist.

According to reports, the 44-year-old filed in court to change his legal name from Kanye Omari West to his longtime nickname “Ye,” no last name included. TMZ adds that in California, a judge can approve a name change as long as there is no evidence that the alteration is done to commit fraud or other crimes.

The news arrives just days before Ye is scheduled to hold his third DONDA listening party in Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium, where his childhood home is supposedly being recreated. He recently cleared out his Instagram to post a photo of the home, which he purchased again just last year for $225,000 USD. Whether or not the actual album will release remains to be seen, however his manager Bu Thiam reiterated to fans that he is “absolutely” and “100%” dropping DONDA after the Thursday event.

In other Kanye news, the bulletproof vest he wore during the second DONDA listening party just sold for $20,000 USD.
