Dusen Dusen Artfully Transforms Dims' Cleo Chair

Ellen Van Dusen, the designer behind Brooklyn-based brand Dusen Dusen, has reinterpreted Dims’ signature Cleo Chair. Dusen’s design for the limited edition seating object features bold color-blocking in contrasting hues — a playful execution inspired by the De Stijl and Memphis art and design movements.

The artful chair, originally made by Norwegian designer Stine Aas, is hand-finished in six different colors across the legs, seat, base and back which recalls Dusen’s own, color-focused home goods. When it comes to the chair’s parts, the seat and back were developed using an induction heating press and were precision-molded from seven layers of flat-cut ash wood, forming a curved back that flows seamlessly into the architectural base.

Several units were swiftly sold out when the Cleo Chair was launched earlier last week, but interested buyers can expect to pre-order the chair when another limited supply releases on April 29 at 8 a.m PST/ 11 a.m. EST. Only 50 pieces will be available to purchase online at the Dims website for $495 USD.
