Two SpongeBob SquarePants episodes have been removed from its new streaming home, Paramount+, due to its storylines.

The episodes in question are “Mid-Life Crustacean,” which featured the memorable “panty raid” sequence, and “Kwarantined Krab,” which saw the staff and patrons of the Krusty Krab undergo quarantine due to the “Clam Flu.” A Nickelodeon representative shared statements to IGN regarding the removal, “‘Mid-Life Crustacean’ has been out of rotation since 2018, following a standards review in which we determined some story elements were not kid-appropriate,” adding, “”The ‘Kwarantined Crab’ [sic] centers on a virus storyline, so we have decided to not air it due to sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic.”

“Mid-Life Crustacean” is a season three episode that premiered on Nickelodeon in 2003, and saw SpongeBob and Patrick attempt to make Mr. Krabs feel young again with special activities — one of them being a “panty raid” that, unbeknownst to Mr. Krabs, takes place in his mother’s home. “Kwarantined Krab,” on the other hand, is a more recent episode that premiered as part of the show’s 12th season and featured the cast undergoing quarantine in the Krusty Krab due to a mysterious illness called the “Clam Flu.” Everyone who showed symptoms would be sent to the freezer to avoid infecting the others, but the flu eventually causes a rift between those involved.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix will be rolling out over 40 new anime titles this 2021.
