Doublet's Latest Bag Won't Double Up as a Skateboard
Nor will its accompanying cardholder.
Masayuki Ino‘s Tokyo-based label doublet has a thing for turning inanimate things and creatures into other objects, previously turning a pair of SUICOKE slippers into a sheep, a shipping box into a bag, and a cat into a slouchy bag, and now it has released its latest offering: the skateboard-shaped bag and cardholder.
Releasing as part of Dover Street Market Singapore‘s “Holiday Specials” offering, the pieces are adorned with sticker-style graphics, notably one that reads “I Love DSM” in the style of an “I Love NYC” sticker. Classic sticker labels such as the “Hello My Name Is” and anti-establishment-inspired “Putting Sticker Is Not a Crime” graphics appear alongside a “Like” thumbs-up, a cartoonish take on the American flag, and stickers of the bolts that keep the skateboard’s wheels in place.
Both pieces are made from smooth tan-colored leather and feature a black fabric backing, which is where you’ll find doublet branding alongside its slogan “Strangest Comfort” — which is also found on the front in sticker-graphic form — and the zipper to get inside both the bag and cardholder.
doublet’s bag retails for S$700 SGD (approx. $511 USD) and the cardholder costs S$240 SGD (approx. $175 USD). Both can be bought on DSMS’ website now.
