After unveiling its vivid paint-splatter Safari Jackets and Pants, NEEDLES is back with the latest piece from its SS20 lineup, this time in collaboration with classic American denim label Lee. Featured is a lightly washed jean jacket and matching pair of denim that are reworkings of archival 1970 silhouettes, tweaking the fit and a variety of details to present a modern look.
The jean jacket has been altered with a wide cut, a departure from its original slim build. The piece sees classic spread collars, complemented by a row of embossed brass rivets at the center, chest pockets, and cuffs. NEEDLES’ butterfly logo is embroidered at the upper left chest, just above the pocket, with dark purple threading that pops from its light indigo base. As a final note, “Lee” branding is seen at the edge of the left pocket flap. The jean jacket’s matching flared denim boasts the same faded wash as the jacket. While skinny at the top, the lower half of the denim sees a slight flare as a nod to its ’70s inspiration. Rounding up the design is the same purple butterfly logo seen in the aforementioned jacket under the left pocket, followed by slight pleating around the lower thighs.
The NEEDLES x Lee Jean Jacket and Flare Denim are currently available at Nepenthes’ website for $283 USD and $256 USD, respectively.
