Both the high-top and low-cut silhouette combine traditional elements found on the original Superstar alongside a new tooling system and proportions, serving a more avant-garde aesthetic. The duo has reworked the sole unit to be exaggerated at the forefoot for a bulkier look, but towards the rear, the midsole is slimmer so that it stays true to the original shoe.
The pairs are constructed from premium leather and appear in “Ecru” as well as a tonal black offering, each adorned with Yamamoto’s hand-scribbled signature that works it was down from the forefoot and onto the rear of the sole unit. The “Ecru” offerings are contrasted with a “Core White” shell-toe, white stripes and black eyestays, with Y-3 branding on the tongue and the rear heel tab also appearing in black.
On the black iterations, a clean Y-3 stamp graces the tongue in white, while both colorways are finished with complementing laces. The Y-3 YOHJI STAR and Y-3 YOHJI PRO will be available on February 20 on adidas’ dedicated Y-3 webstore, as well as Y-3 outposts and a selection of retailers worldwide.
