Stormzy Performs "Crown" in His US Television Debut on 'Jimmy Fallon'
Showing off his singing chops with the ‘Heavy Is The Head’ standout single.
Fresh off his 2020 BRIT Awards nominations and his ongoing feud with Wiley in his “Still Disappointed” diss-track, UK rapper Stormzy made his US television debut last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Stormzy chose his second single from his sophomore album Heavy Is The Head in “Crown,” as the introspective cut was backed by a full band and choir while he showcased his singing chops on the chorus. Late last year, he took to Instagram to explain what the track meant to him before its release.
“I’ve been struggling to find words to describe how much this song means to me… struggling to explain exactly why I felt the need to say what I’ve said on the record… and can’t quite summarize the journey of emotions the song takes me on when I listen back to it. I’m very proud of myself for making this song and I can’t wait for you all to hear it [tonight]. Nothing but love and respect for my brother Jimmy Napes, a world class phenomenal talent and MJ Cole, the genius and legend – an honor and a pleasure to work with you both my brothers. We’ve created something very special and close to my heart [in "Crown"].”
