You Can Now Play the Original 1996 'Diablo' In Your Browser
“Hello, my friend. Stay awhile and listen.”
Retro gamers rejoice, the highly-addictive Diablo video game from 1996 can now be played over your browser. The first game from the franchise, that has spawned into a total of three titles and a number of expansions, has never been easier to access. Led by programmer GalaXyHaXz, Diablo‘s source code has been reversed engineered and ported for web browser playability.
What took almost a year of work can now be enjoyed in only a matter of seconds over at diablo.rivsoft.net. Those with the purchased version of the game can also just drop the DIABDAT.MPQ file onto the designated page where the game will boot up; there’s also a download link provide for a shareware version.
After some 23 years, this game still finds its way into gamers’ hands — offering a nostalgic experience to older gamers, and hopefully enjoyment to those that have yet to experience banishing the Lord of Terror.
