G2 Sweeps Team Liquid for Mid Season Invitational Victory
Making ‘League of Legends’ history.
This weekend Riot Games took to Taipei, Taiwan for its annual League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MIS) leading up to Worlds 2019. Following a pair of upsets which saw favored teams Invictus Gaming and SK Telecom T1, Team Liquid and G2 came together for a North America vs Europe showdown.
The unexpected final round saw G2 best TL in a three-game sweep. In Game 1 the European team came out strong with early aggression lead by captain Caps. Taking advantage of their multi-teleport setup, G2 launched a series of ganks which shut down TL’s bottom lane.
Moving into Game 2, TL looked to shift the momentum with some expert Kennen play from Doublelift. Unfortunately, the American team’s efforts were not enough to fend off the Sylas, Thresh and Pike combination, losing the match and forcing a do-or-die last game. A shaky start from TL, ultimately led to G2 coming out with a clean three-game sweep.
Leading his team to victory by dominating mid, Caps of G2 was rightly dubbed the MVP of the tournament. With the result of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational, the gaming world is now signaling the revival of Europe in the world of competitive LoL.
