X-Tag Turns Your Phone into a Real-World Battle Royale Game
Supporting up to 64-players.

Takara Tomy has just released X-Tag, a mobile shooting game that converts your smartphone into a real-world battle royale game of laser tag. The game is comprised of a light gun that connects to your phone, enabling you to play in a two-team battle (up to 16 players on each team), or a full 64-player battle royale mode.
The X-Tag gun is powered by two AAA batteries and has a range of 50 meters. On the top of the gun is a 360-degree receptor that records when you’ve been hit — there’s no need for a clunky vest. The game will also have an assortment of weapons and power-ups to choose from. Some advanced features include the ability to see your teammates and enemies using the phone’s built-in GPS, and a chat function that lets you customize your avatar’s look, clothing, and accessories.
Priced at ¥5,400 JPY (approximately $48 USD), Takara Tomy’s X-Tag can be pre-ordered now over at its web store.
In other gaming news, Sony has officially discontinued the PlayStation Vita.
