As we await Speak‘s forthcoming opus SEXQUEST 3, the long-haired Inland Empire innovator has three new songs on deck for fans. First, there’s the SEXQUEST 3 single “Cold Beer & The Shell Fish.” Then, there’s another product from the SEXQUEST 3 sessions that didn’t make the final cut, the Cashius Green collaboration “Chips N Salsa.” This week, we’re treated to the Caleb Stone-produced “Pulp.” In a statement to Redbull, “Pulp” is broken down by its creator as such:

“‘Pulp’ is my bratty way of rationalizing being upset or angry when things don’t go my way,” explains Speak. “It’s the product of feeling completely drained and beat up by the world, to be honest. When you work so hard and long at something and feel like you’ve hit a ceiling and aren’t getting the support or recognition you want, you can’t help but be a little pissed off.”

“I remember carrying these feelings into the session and Caleb Stone making an offhand comment about my sh–ty attitude and always being mad. My only response was a snide ‘I can be mad if I want.’ The light bulb went off and that’s how I came up with the hook. I’m consoling myself, and anyone who may feel the same way. It’s OK to be mad, just as long as you can channel that feeling into something positive. The sentiment fits snugly over Caleb’s plodding organ driven instrumental. The song has this sort of cowboy twang that makes us feel like a couple of drunks in a western saloon sulking.”

The song also features lyrics about fighting in “rumbles with bros,” which are bars you probably won’t hear from any artist from regions on the west ends of the 91 and 60 freeways. You can give “Pulp” a listen above. Expect a new video featuring Antwon soon.
