Watch a Footage of Miguel Before Fame

In 2008, documentary crew Yours Truly went to Los Angeles to shoot a documentary about Miguel before he was a well-known artist. Set around his childhood neighborhood and home, Miguel spoke on his aspirations and dreams on becoming an artist and revealed how his life growing up contributed to his vision. Although the footage was never released at the time, the team recently interviewed Miguel in his current self and produced a new documentary by combining the old and recent material. Co-director Will Abramson shared with The FADER:
“We basically stole a camcorder from my day job and flew ourselves to LA to spend the day with Miguel. I’d only heard a few songs, but they were good, even great, and he was on Blu’s Below the Heavens so that was already enough for me. This piece is about growth. The experience we had with him, where he opened up the private places of his life, inspired us to grow into Yours Truly. And seeing him grow to where he’s at now, while staying so true to the ideals and even the words he used back then, is humbling. I’m proud that Yours Truly is a part of his story.”
