Instagram Blocks #EDM Hashtag Due to Guideline Violations

Popular photo-sharing platform Instagram just blocked the #EDM (acronym for “electronic dance music”) hashtag. This means that when you search for it, none of the photos or videos tagged with the genre will show up. The social media service told TIME that it was blocked because “#EDM was being used to share content that violates our guidelines around nudity.” This comes just a week after the controversial ban of the hashtag #curvy, which has since become unbanned but is now tightly moderated after users condemned the banning of a body-positive term. We’ll see if the same situation will happen to #EDM.
