Watch DMX Rap About IRS Issues Outside Courthouse
Even though he could face up to 44 years in prison if convicted.
Shortly after DMX was charged with 14 counts of tax evasion on Monday, the rapper delivered a freestyle verse outside of the courthouse. “We don’t worry with Murray, he get you outta jail in a hurry. When the government trying to bury you, you good—early!” he rapped confidently, suggesting that he was innocent.
DMX faced legal issues after federal prosecutors claim that the rapper was involved in a few schemes to avoid paying a seven-figure sum of tax that he apparently owed. One of the tactics the rapper allegedly used was depositing his paychecks into his managers’ accounts so he could be paid in cash and thus be exempt from taxation. DMX posted a half million dollar USD bail, according to a report from Saturday. If convicted, X could face up to 44 years in prison; his follow-up court date will take place on September 6.
