Chanel Wins Trademark Lawsuit Against an Italian Jewelry Company
In a battle over its famous logo.

Chanel has won the latest case in its ongoing battle to protect the iconic double “C” logo. The European Union’s General Court ruled on Tuesday that Li Jing Zhou’s Italian jewelry company, Golden Rose 999 Srl, and its trademark interlocking “S” shapes can be angled in a certain way to resemble that of Chanel’s iconic monogram.
Although the General Court formally annulled the European Union Intellectual Property Office’s initial decision, it rejected Chanel’s request to have the trademark denied as it is not within the court’s competencies. Instead, it asked that the Intellectual Property Office make the necessary arrangements to resolve this issue.
