Gucci & GUESS Settle Trademark Dispute After Near-Decade Battle
Who owns the rights to the “G” logo?

Since 2009, Gucci has taken GUESS to task for a design that the Italian fashion house claimed was counterfeiting and a trademark infringement of the interlocking “G” Gucci logo. GUESS’s similar-looking pattern first lost in court, netting Gucci a nearly $5 million USD legal win in 2012, but won as recently as 2015. Regardless, the two companies have now released a joint statement announcing the end of the nine-year legal tussle, stating that ““The agreement is an important step for both companies in recognising the significance of protecting their respective property portfolios and design creativity.” Take a look at a comparison of the designs below.
