A rather unusual turn comes from NYC-based rock band The Strokes. Despite claiming that their upcoming album is more collaborative than their earlier efforts Julian Casablancas is not joining his bandmates in the studio. Instead the multi-faceted singer will be adding his vocals later in the recording process for the album.
In an interview with ABC’ Dean Harris Casablancas explained this “special” development.
I’m pretty opinionated, and I’m not pushy to the point where it’s my way or no way. I felt if I wasn’t in the room, and wasn’t saying that, they could spread their wings, if you will. The new album sounds more like the last record, but I might try to funk it up a little bit,” he said.
The new Strokes album is still expected to see the light of day in September.
