Adele & Rihanna Reign Supreme on Billboard Charts
Rihanna has more No. 1 hits than Michael Jackson.
Concerning the frenzy surrounding “Work,” should is really come as a surprise that Rihanna is one of the two main artists dominating the charts this week? She was sitting at the top spot at the beginning of the month, and as February comes to a close, her hit-single and Drake collaboration is ensuring she stays there.
As many outlets reported earlier in the week, the Anti songstress now has more No. 1 hit records than the King of Pop Michael Jackson. With the release of two attention-grabbing videos for “Work” behind her, Rihanna earned her 14th number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart thanks to the song. “Work” is also sitting at the top spots for almost all of the charts where the song and its sound are all applicable. From Streaming Songs and On Demand Songs to the R&B lists, Rihanna’s “Work” is entrenched at number one. Rihanna has definitely shut down any talk concerning her recent project’s “lack of singles” with her latest victory lap.
Like she has for months now, Adele is also racking up plenty of number one accomplishments on the charts. Since her comeback, the British star has been running the global musical conversation. Currently, the Official U.K. Albums Chart and Billboard Canadian Albums both count Adele’s 25 as their crowned ruler. With February coming to a close, her most recent album 25 has also earned her firm control of five significant rankings in Billboard’s “Overall Popularity” section. From blogs to overseas charts to mainstream media, Adele is front and center.
The Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, Digital Album Sales and Catalog Albums chart all count Adele’s latest as their number one entry. The Artist 100 chart is also dominated by Adele, largely due in part to the singer-songwriter’s “comeback” album. Justin Bieber was (and still is) in a great position last week, but Adele has slowed down his momentum just slightly. Thanks to “Love Yourself,” he still has the No. 1 spot on the Radio Songs chart. Besides, can anyone really compete with the “Hello” crooner?
